... Dialectics of Fighting

Whether in conflict with yourself or with others:

Aikidō is the Japanese martial art, which breaks out of the vicious circle of aggression, violence and counter-violence and transcends it, without abandoning the field to it.

sei han gō” Thesis, Antithesis and Synthesis

Dialectics is defined as “any systematic reasoning, exposition, or argument that juxtaposes opposed or contradictory ideas and usually seeks to resolve their conflict.” (Free Merriam Webster Dictionary) Or else, it is a philosophical working method, which questions its starting position through mutually contradicting claims (thesis and antithesis) and tries to gain insights or thruth of a higher order through the synthesis of both opposed claims.

Accordingly, Aikidō presents a way (Japanese “dō”) to resolve and to transcend the conflicts of attacking and defending, of violence and counter-violence through deescalation and cooperation.

shin gi tai” Heart – Technique – Body

In addition to that Aikidō presents a method to transcend the all too human conflicts and contradictions between body and mind and reunite them again through the training of its specific breathing and fighting techniques.
